  • DAY 3 Phnom Penh
  • ?Cambodia's capital lies at the confluence of two great rivers, the Mekong and the Tonle Sap, and we'll discover its highlights on today's included tour. We'll stop at the striking Royal Palace and the National Museum before walking to the top of Wat Phnom Hill, where we can have our fortunes told. Next, we'll visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, which documents atrocities committed by the Khmer Rouge in the 1970s, before ending our tour at the large Central Market. ?
  • DAY 4 Kratie
  • ?The sleepy riverside town of Kratie is considered the best place in Cambodia to spot rare Irrawaddy dolphins and we'll head here today to try to do just that. We'll also walk up Phnom Sambok, with its small hilltop temple, and take in a peaceful Mekong sunset. ?
  • DAY 5 Koh Trong Island
  • ?Lying just across the water from Kratie is the beautiful island of Koh Trong. We'll board a boat for the short journey here for a peek into rural village life. If we're lucky, we may get to see one of the rare Mekong mud turtles which inhabit the western shore?
  • DAY 6 Kampong Cham
  • ?Our journey continues to Kampong Cham, a quiet town that's steeped in legends. During our tour we'll admire Wat Nokor, an impressive temple dating back to the 12th century, and the twin hills of Phnom Pros and Phnom Srey – meaning man and woman hills – for striking views. Perhaps you'll choose to find out what your destiny holds with a visit to one of the many fortune tellers, and look out for the monkeys that roam around here!?
  • DAY 7 Siem Reap
  • ?Siem Reap is the gateway to the worldfamous temples of Angkor and our destination today. We'll pass through ?Kampong Thom, a former Khmer Rouge stronghold, en route, with the rest of the day at leisure. ?
  • DAY 8 Angkor complex
  • ?Magnificent Angkor Wat is the centrepiece of the centuries-old Angkor complex, and we'll see this awe-inspiring temple on today's tour, along with all the main highlights. Admire the carved smiling faces adorning the Bayon Temple and Ta Prohm, a temple shrouded in dense jungle, which featured in the movie Tomb Raider. We'll also see the Terrace of the Elephants, the Terrace of the Leper King and the pyramid-shaped Phimeanakas. ?
  • DAY 9 Siem Reap province & Tonle Sap Lake
  • ?The great Tonle Sap Lake is the largest fresh water lake in Southeast Asia and we'll discover its floating villages during a cruise this morning. Next we'll visit Angkor Silk Farm village, where we'll learn about silkworm farming and silk weaving. The exquisite pink sandstone temple of Banteay Srey is known as 'the jewel of Khmer art' and we'll see this after lunch. We'll then enjoy a short stop at Banteay Samre before heading back to our hotel.?
  • DAY 10 Chansar & Luang Prabang
  • ?The rural village of Chansar is where we'll head today. We'll visit a non-profit organisation employing village women, who specialise in the traditional craft of mat weaving, before travelling in an ox cart, receiving a blessing at a local monastery and participating in fishing, farming or animal husbandry. We'll then transfer to the airport for our flight to Luang Prabang in Laos. ?
  • DAY 11 Luang Prabang
  • ?The former royal capital of Luang Prabang has been proclaimed the best-preserved city in South East Asia and we'll see its highlights today. We'll admire the wonderful architecture of Wat Xieng Thong and the gilded façade of Wat Mai before continuing to the former Royal Palace, which is now a museum housing rare religious and cultural artefacts. Panoramic views will be our reward for climbing 328 steps to the top of Mount Phousi, before our last stop at the Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre. Luang Prabang's night market is bursting with colourful textiles, quilts, carvings, basketry and ceramics and, as the sun sets, we'll browse its stalls.?
  • DAY 12 Luang Prabang
  • ?The Buddhist alms giving ceremony is one of Laos' most sacred traditions and we will experience it this morning. We'll rise early to the sound of the temple gong and watch about 300 monks walk silently by, collecting sticky rice and other foods in their bronze bowls. If you would like to offer food, our Local Guide will show you how to interact with the monks. The Kuang Si Waterfall is truly spectacular – and just a short drive from our base. Grab your swimsuit as we head to Kuang Si Park, where this multi-tier fall cascades down several hundred feet to a series of turquoise pools, many of which are open for swimming.?
  • DAY 13 Living Land Farm
  • ?The organic Living Land Farm project aids the local community through the cultivation of rice, vegetables and herbs, and we'll discover more today. We'll begin by helping out in the fields where farmers plough, plant and harvest without the aid of machinery. Roll up your trousers as you get knee deep in mud to try your hand at planting rice, or learning to steer a water buffalo to plough the field. You may choose to help pick herbs or husk rice, or simply watch from the veranda. We'll also get to see the farm's basketweavers and blacksmiths at work. This evening, we'll gather as a group for a farewell dinner.?
